Valkoinen - White

Meillä oli Nukkekotielämää -listalla swappi (tavaranvaihto), jossa aiheena väri. Osallistujia oli kolme, joten kaikki lähettivät kaikille paketin. Itse toivoin valkoista ja sain TH:lta ja Leenalta näin inspiroivia tavaroita ja materiaaleja. Ylemmässä kuvassa TH:lta saadut ja alemmassa Leenalta. Erityisesti luuranko on aivan mahtava, koska juuri tuollaista olen etsinyt vuosia. Aion vielä maalata luurangon kellastuneeksi ja vähän tummuneeksi.
We had a swap in our doll house group Nukkekotielämää. The theme was colour. I wished for white and TH wished for yellow and Leena for green. We all sent packages to each other. I am really excited about what I got. Especially the skeleton was a great suprise, because it is something I have been looking for years. I only have to paint it to make it resemble an old skeleton. There are few things missing in the pictures because I got so excited about what I got that I already found a place for them.

Luokkahuone - Classroom

Vihdoinkin oli aikaa tehdä jotain miniä ihan kunnolla. Kokosin Krizzeltä ostamani pulpettisetin. Täytyy sanoa, että oli laadukas huonekalukitti. Hiomista oli tosi vähän ja kaikki osat sopivat paikoilleen upeasti ja kasaaminen oli helppoa, vaikka ohjeet olivat vain englanniksi ja ilman kuvallisia ohjeita. Puuaines oli myös tosi laadukasta eikä vaadi pintaansa kuin lakan tai vahan. Lisäksi tein kuvassa näkyvän uunin. Materiaalina oli paspispahvi, valmiit listat, balsalevyä, erilaisia metalliosia ja yhdestä kaapista irtisahatut jalat. Mallia otin yhdestä kirjasta ja BodoHennigin uunista. Englannissa ei varsinaisesti harrastettu tämän näköisiä uuneja, mutta muualla Euroopassa ja Pohjois-Amerikassa harrastettiin. Luokkahuone ei ole vielä valmis, mutta innostuin niin, että pakko oli heti kuvata. Niin ja teinhän minä myös tuon väliseinän huoneeseen. Ovesta, joka on vielä maalaamaton, pääsee kotiopettajattaren ja palvelijan huoneeseen. On muuten pakko saada sähköistys taloon, kun eihän tuolla muuten näe mitään.

I finally had some time to do some miniatures. I have bought a while ago that school table kit. I was really easy to assemble because all the parts just fitted beautifully together and hardly any sanding was required. I also like the wood in it,and it only needs a coat of varnish or polish.

I have also made the stove in the corner. I made it of cardboard, some metal parts, pieces of balsa wood and trimmings. That kind of stove was actually used in rest of the Europe and Northern America, but not that much in England during Victorian times.

The classroom is not quite finished yet but I was just eager to take some pictures. You can also see the wall I made between the classroom and the servants' bedroom. Now I really need electricity to my dollhouse because otherwise one cannot see much in that room.

Uusi kahvila - New Cafe

Kahvila muutti pois viktoriaanisen talon kellarista erilliseen pienoishuoneeseen, jossa aiemmin oli mummon kammari ja kotiopettajatteren huone. Nyt kahvila näyttää paremmalta, vaikka tilaa onkin vähemmän. Seinille pitää saada viedä tauluja ja lehtiteline sekä suolaisia herkkuja pitää tehdä lisää. Teeastiasto on uusi. Löysin sen Presentosta ja nyt sain kahvilaan sopivat astiat.

Isompaan pöytään on katettu kahden ystävättären herkutteluhetki ostosten lomassa. Nurkkapöydässä nautiskellaan syötävistä herkuista ja hyvästä lukemisesta (Kauneimmat nukkekotini - Eija Sirjonen).

The cafe has moved away from the basement of my victorian doll house. I put it to a separate room box where I used to have Grandma´s habitat and Teacher´s bedroom. I like the cafe better now even though there is a little bit less room for everything. I found a new tea set from a local Doll house shop.

I have set the bigger table for two ladies having a coffee break during shopping. In a corner table someone is enjoying some delicatessen while reading a good book (Kauneimmat nukkekotini - Eija Sirjonen).

Pakko tehdä - Had to Do

Löysin kirpputorilta tällaisen salaattikaukalon, johon oli ihan pakko tehdä tällainen pieni roomboksi. Kaappi on ihan ensimmäinen itse tekemäni puinen (balsaa) nukkekodin huonekalu, jonka olen siis tehnyt jo vuonna 1997! Suuri osa esineistä on itse tehtyjä tai taitavien suomalaisten miniatyristien tekemiä. Kaapille ei ole oikein löytynyt hyvää paikkaa nukkekodissani enää, mutta koska ansaitsi kuitenkin kunniapaikan, jonka se sain tässä roomboksissa.

I found this wooden salad bowl from a flea market. I just had to make a little shadow box in it. This cupboard is the very first wooden furniture I have made. It is made from balsa wood 12 years ago. Most of the items on shelves are self-made or made by skillful Finnish miniaturists. I could not fit this cupboard to my doll house any more, but now I think it has found a place worth of it. I could also use different bits and pieces I had in my drawers to decorate the box so I did not have to buy anything new.

Drawing Room - Olohuone

Olohuone on edelleen kesken. Joku asia vaan tökkii tässä huoneessa. Vaihdoin sohvan ja pöytäliinan ja heti näyttää vähän paremmalta. Sohva pitäisi vielä hioa ja petsata uudelleen ja uusia päällinenkin sitten samalla. Pöytäliinan olen virkannut yli vuosi sitten ja se on ollut markkinoillakin myynnissä, mutta taidan pitää sen itse. Kuningatar Victorian patsas ja taulu ovat Doloreksen kautta tilattu. Kaunis Lontoosta ostamani pehmustettu tuoli ei kuvassa valitettavasti kunnolla näy.
The drawing room is still not ready. Something is just not right with this room. I changed the sofa and tablemat and suddenly the room looks a little better. I am planning on sanding the sofa and dying it the same color as the sideboard and piano which I have made myself. I have crocheted the tablemat a year ago and I have tried to sell it in two doll house festivals. Now I think that I am going to keep it to myself. I have bought the statue and the painting of Queen Victoria from Dolores. The beautiful soft furnished chair from London does not show too well in the picture I am afraid.

For you english readers I shoud tell that the lady of the house is reading a novel and sister-in- law is playing the piano. These beautiful dolls are made by a talented Finnish doll maker Taru Astikainen.

Piha - Yard

I have made the front yard paving from air-drying clay which I painted several times with different shades of gray and brown. I am going to put some moss between the stones. I have made the round table myself as well as the crocheted table cloth on it. Chairs are from Indiska and I only dirtied them to make them look old.
A friend miniatyrist sent me some crab printed placemats, apron and hats. So I had to lay the table with them even though I did not have any crabs to serve yet. People have "crab parties" in August here, where they serve crabs, toast with dill-butter and schnaps.
Some of the flowers are made by me. Violets and geraniums beside it are made by a skillful Finnish miniatyrist Katriina from whom I have also bought a kit to make those beautiful hortensias (?). Sushi is made by Tellu. Rooster and chicken are made by Hanna. Flowerstand is also made by Katriina and I got it in Valentine's Day Swap. Both flowers in it are made by Finnish miniatyrists.

I have noticed that I have gotten foreign blog-followers too, which is really nice. I thought that it would be quite fair to use both Finnish and English in my blog entries. So from now on this will be a bilingual blog :)
