Virkkauksia - Crocheting

Onpas taas kulunut aikaa viime päivityksestä. Uusia lukijoitakin on tullut, mikä on oikein mukavaa. Tässä kaksi uutta virkattua liinaa, jotka tehty Annelta saadun CD:n ohjeilla. Tuossa tähtimäisessä liinassa onkin sitten lankoja pääteltäväksi. Näitä ei varmastikaan tee enää toista, vaikka kaunis liina onkin.

It has been a while I have blogged. I have crocheted these too table mats. I got the instructions from Anne. Look at all those threads coming from the star shaped mat. I am definitely not making another one ever, even though it is beautiful.

Sys 4

Tänään tuli vielä neljäskin sys-lähetys. Kuoressa Helsingin postileima ja osoitelappu samalla fontilla kuin aiemmatkin Helsingin lähetykset.

Kirjeestä löytyi maailman upein ja taidokkain puolipistoilla kirjailtu matto, jonka aion kuitenkin laittaa seinävaatteeksi luokkahuoneeseen. Mukana oli myös kansikuvaprinttejä nukkekotilehtiin. Kirjeessä toivotettiin mukavaa Rukan reissua ja allekirjoitus oli, että ei ehkä enää niin salainen ystävä. Aiempi arvaus menikin nyt sitten uusiksi, mutta epäilyksiä on.

I got a fourth package from a secret friend. There was the most beautiful petit point rug and covers to miniature magazines in it. The rug is made with the tiniest stiches and on the bottom row it says: "February 2010". That is just amazing. I like it so much that I got goose bumps when I saw it the first time. Thank you my secret friend!

Meillä on NKE-listalla Salainen ystävä -swap helmikuussa. Olen saanut kolme pakettia, joista on tullut mitä ihanimpia yllätyksiä.

We have a secret friend swap in our Nukkekotielämää Yahoo-group. I have gotten three packages full of the nicest suprises.

SYS 2: Toisessa paketissa oli CD täynnä kauniita virkkausohjeita. Tämä on todellinen aarre.

There was a CD full of crocheting instructions in the second package. This is a true treasure to me.
SYS 1: Ensimmäisessä paketissa oli vanhoja kirjoja ja kaunis kortti.

There were old books and a pretty card in the first package.

Takkasydän - grate

Koska koko nukkekoti on nyt tyhjä huonekaluista ja tavaroista, niin vihdoinkin innostuin tekemään takkoihin takorautaisen sydämet. Nämä ovat irrotettavat. Materiaalina jämäpuupalat, listat ja metallifiligraania. Sitten vaan mattamustaa akryylimaalia päälle. Lattialla oleva reunus on leikattu vanhasta valokuvakehyksestä. Oli aika vaikea saada selkeää kuvaa mustasta. Toivottavasti jotain näkyy.

Because I have emptied the whole doll's house I had finally chance to make the grates to the fireplaces without knocking all bricks and bracks down. The grate is supposed to resemble an iron cast grate which where popular at Victorian times. I used my life-sized Victorian house style books for my guidance. I can recommend these books particular: The Victorian Society book of "The Victorian House" by Kit Wedd and Victorian House Style Handbook by Linda Osband. I do not know what I would do without them. I was kind of hard to take pictures of a black item. I hope you can see something.

I used odd bits and pieces of wood, dowelling and metal filigran to make this grate. The fire surround on the floor is cut from an old metal photo frame.

Kitchen - Keittiö

The self above the cupboard is quite new. I got the idea from a life size Victorian decoration book I got from London. Also the amaryllis (is that English name for that white flower?) is new. I copied it from my life-size flower. I just love white flowers.

Hylly komeron yläpuolella on melko uusi. Sain idean siihen Viktoriaanisesta sisustuskirjasta, jonka ostin Lontoosta viime vuonna. Myös amaryllis on uusi. Katsoin mallia oikeasta amarylliksestä. Tykkään kovasti valkoisista kukista.

Kirjasto - Study

Tässä uusin kuva kirjastosta. Kokeilin sinne kahvilan hyllyä ensin oviseinälle ja sitten takaseinälle. Näyttää aika hyvältä. Kirjoituspöytäkin löysi paikkansa takan vierestä. Pitää vielä laittaa koristelistaa hyllyyn, mutta muuten taitaa hylly jäädä kirjastoon. Katon väriäkin pitää miettiä. Haluaisin, että kirjastossa olisi hieman synkkä ja hämyinen tunnelma. Ihan vakuuttunut en myöskään ole noista nojatuoleista. Ovat hieman liian raskastekoiset ja vaaleat. Katsotaan, miten niille käy. Shakkipöytäkin on liian kiiltävä ja punainen, mutta sen tilalle onkin jo suunnitelmia. Kirjojakin pitäisi väsätä aika monta...

Here is the newest picture of the study. I tried the self from the cafe and I think that it will stay in the study. I just have to put some decorative trimmings. I would like to have a bit mysterious and dark athmosphere in the study so I guess I have to do something to that bright white ceiling. I am not sure if I like those armchairs because they look a bit too big and light-coloured. I am planning on changing the chess board/game table too. It is way too shiny and red. The bookcase is also lacking some books...
Kirjasto on vielä vaiheessa. Mun mielestä siellä on aivan liian vähän kirjoja. Pitäisikö tehdä kiinteä kirjahylly tuohon kirjoituspöytäseinällekin? Mitäs sanotte?

The study in still in progress. I think that there a way too little books. Should I make another bookself to the behing the desk? What do you think?

Lisää kuvia - More pictures

Lissu toivoi lisää kuvia nukkekodistani ja nythän se olikin helppo toteuttaa ilman luonnonvaloakin. Tässä ensin kolme kuvaa makuuhuoneesta. Huone on pääosin valmis, vain katto-ja lattialistat puuttuvat sekä ovi. Pikkuesineitä voi tietysti lisätä loputtomasti.

Lissu wished for more pictures of my Dollhouse and now it was easy do even without the natural sun light. Master bedroom is basically ready except for skirtings and door. Of course I can always add new little ornaments. The picture above the fireplace is a souvenier My little sister got me from Chicago Dollhouse store "Think Small". I just love Monet's Water Lilies. I have made most of the items myself or I have collected them during the years or gotten them from my dear miniaturist friends. The mat is the second doll house mat I have ever made and I still like it a lot.

I have made the fire place, the bed, the dressing table and wash-stand myself. I have also made the chair from a unexpensive doll house furniture by changing the legs and sanding the whole thing and staining it with diluted acrylic paint. The round table in the middle is from a McQueen kit. I really love those McQueen kits. They are just the easiest to assemble and I love the wood. The wardrobe is also an unexpensive doll house furniture I just sanded and stained with diluted acrylic paint.
This is a picture of the only finished room in my Dollhouse. It has a window, door and skirtings in place. I made the door myself and it looks quite convincing. It is a working door of course. Most of the stuff is selfmade. The baby carriage is bought from a skillful Finnish Miniatyrist Anna-Liisa Soikka from a Doll and Teddy Bear Festival last December.
There are quite many things that I have gotten from my friends in swaps. For example the picture above the fireplace, the Rabbit pillow, the Beatrix Potter book, knitted socks and the doll beside the old nanny.
