Mitä tapahtuu?

What is happening?
I finally having the facade for my victorian house. My dad built the plywood house 1998 and I have had those plywood pieces for the facade at least two years now. Now I finally had the courage to hinge them with piano hinges. Now I am wallpapering the facade walls and painting window frames.

But I am glad I have been waiting for this long. Now I am more skilled with wood-work than ten years ago. And I luckily had all wall-papers left and I had bought enough tile paper from London year 1999!

The reason I got the facade finally built is my new doll house Pigletton. I have to think carefully (hopefully not ten years this time) how to decorate the house and where to put the lights at etc.

This and That

I made some folders from pieces of wall paper I had. I just had to put some papers in one of the folders.

Muuraushommia - Tiles

Päällystin hormin tiilipaperilla. Eihän se oikeastaan mihinkään näy, mutta kait se on vähän sama kuin jos laittaa päälle kauniit alusvaatteet niin tuntee olonsa kauniimmaksi ja itsevarmemmaksi. Idean sain Glencroft blogista.

I covered the chimney with tile paper. I doesn't really show, but I guess it is quite the same as with pretty underwear - you just feel yourself more pretty and confident. I got the idea from a Glencroft blog.

Maalaisromanttiikka -swap - Country style swap

Meillä on maalaisromantiikka -swap Nukkekotielämää-listalla. Upean maton ja tyynyn sain Lissulta, tyynyt, joissa virkattu kukka ja pieni sydäntaulu ovat TH:lta, linnunpönttö Tiiltä ja kynttiläjalka ja pöytäliina Nannalta. Kiitos kaikille näistä kaikista ihanuuksista!

Maalausurakka - Painting job

Pigletton etenee. Nyt on alakerran sisäkatot maalattu kahteen kertaan ja seinät pohjamaalattu. Onneksi saatiin käyttöön nämä kätevät maalaustikkaat ja muitakin maalausvälineitä. Tapettikirjakin on jo hankittu, jotta voi miettiä tulevia tapetteja.

Tikkaat on tehty Making Miniatures - Doll's House Projects in 1/12th scale -kirjan ohjeella. Kokeilin tehdä urat astimille Dremelillä ja se vaatii vielä harjoittelua, mutta tikkaat niistä silti tuli. Vähän sellaiset vanhat ja käytetyt. Telat on tehty kirjaimellisesti roskasta. Telan sisäosa on leikattu vanupuikon ontosta muovisesta varresta ja "karva" vanulapusta. Lisäksi tarvitaan pätkä metallilankaa ja punainen tai keltainen pieni helmi. Isomman telan kahva on puuhelmi, jonka olen saanut JJ:ltä romujoulukanterissa 2009, pienemmän kahva on vanupuikon vartta. Pensseli on tehty tuikkumetallista, kahvitikusta ja vanhasta siveltimestä. Tapettikirja on tehty ylimääräisistä pienistä tapettipaloista eli mitään ei kannata heittää pois.
I have painted the ceilings twice on the ground floor and walls are painted once. I just had to make this ladder and painting equipment. The ladder's instruction is from Making Miniatures - Doll's House Projects in 1/12th scale. Other things are made from trash. If anyone wants more precise instruction in English I will happily write them later.

It's a good start - Tämä on hyvä alku

First I read the instructions and this time I really read them. Then I decided not to panic and despite the panic I started constructing this house. I could not help thinking about the situation when I would realize that I had done something wrong and could not reverse it and then instead of Glencroft I would have some haunted house. But then I told myself that I have been able to build a basement for my big house using 9mm plywood, drill, screws, electric (big) saws and so on, I could most definitely get this house together. And I decided to like sanding, because as we all know sanding is fun :)

Glue bottles are there to show you the size of the house. I actually used these glues too, because I do not have a hot glue gun or even if I did I could never gather enough courage to use it on my house. But B3 wood glue is working fine with my glueing assistant (that is my 3 year old son, who wont let me work too long and then all the parts have enough time to dry before I can continue assembly. Convienient? Between glueing together all these parts I can enjoy driving a train or monster truck. Nowadays I cannot drive a toy car without making a sound...)

The second floor on its place. That must have been the trickiest part of the assembly so far.
This is how the house looks right now. I lifted it to its own place and you can see how much smaller it is compared to the big house. I thing that this new house is called Pigletton (= Nasula in Finnish). Nasu means Piglet in Finnish. I already like the house a lot and it is talking to me and I know that the house is going to tell me what kind of a house it wants to be. You other miniaturists will know what that means.
